Hoje vamos estudar alguns phrasal verbs que transmitem a ideia de “sair” e “distância”. Vamos abordar um por um mostrando seu sentido e uso.
To be off: sair (para algum lugar). Ex.: I’m off to the cinema.
To be off: sair (dentro de um certo tempo) Ex.: I’ll be off in a few minutes.
To run off: sair correndo. Ex.: We would throw stones at the window and then run off.
To rush off: sair às pressas. Ex.: He rushed off without saying goodbye.
To dash off: sair às pressas. Ex.: He dashed off without saying goodbye.
To clear off: sair correndo (GB) Ex.: They cleared off before the police arrived.
To take off: decolar. Ex.: The plane took off on time.
To see off: despedir-se. Ex.: I saw my parents off at the airport.
To scare off: afugentar. Ex.: He scared other clients off and bought the bargain.
To frighten off: afugentar. Ex.: Jack frightened the birds off his vegetable patch.
To set off: sair (usado para quando começamos uma viagem de qualquer tamanho). Ex.: They set off early in the morning.
