CORRER — Verbos em Inglês


Verbo intransitivo

1. to run
As crianças corriam pelo pátio de recreio. The children were running around in the playground.

Saí e corri atrás dele. I ran out after him.

Quando me viu, ele desatou a correr. He ran away when he saw me.

2. (despachar-se) to hurry
Não corra, você ainda tem tempo. There’s no need to hurry. You still have time.

3. (líquidos) to flow
A água corria pela rua. Water was flowing down the street.

4. (boato, notícia) to go around
Corria o boato de que ela ia se casar. There was a rumor going around that she was getting married.

5. (resultar) to go
A excursão correu muito bem. The trip went really well.

Verbo transitivo

1. (Esporte) to compete in sth
Correr os 100 metros com barreiras. to compete in the 100 meters hurdles

2. (risco) to run
Ela corre o risco de perder o emprego. She runs the risk of losing her job.

LOC

Correr o boato. to be rumored (that…)
Corre o boato de que eles estão arruinados. It’s rumored (that) they’re ruined.
Correu o boato de que ele estava morto. He was rumored to be dead.
Correr perigo. to be in danger
Fazer algo correndo. to do sth in a rush
Sair correndo. to dash off
